Product Safety: Our Commitment under the GPSR Regulation

As of December 13, 2024, Regulation (EU) 2023/988, known as the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), has come into effect, enhancing consumer protection within the European Union. This regulation replaces the previous Directive 2001/95/EC, introducing new measures to ensure that all products placed on the market are safe, reliable, and compliant with European standards.

The GPSR applies to all non-food consumer products sold in the EU, including new, used, refurbished, or repaired items, whether through physical stores or online channels. Key changes introduced by the regulation include:

  • Risk Assessment: Each product must be evaluated not only for its intended use but also for reasonably foreseeable misuse, taking into account risks associated with integrated new technologies.

  • Traceability: It's mandatory to ensure product traceability throughout the supply chain, providing details about their origin and distribution path.

  • Responsible Person: Every product must have an economic operator (manufacturer, importer, authorized representative, or distributor) based in the EU, responsible for ensuring the product's compliance with safety standards.

  • Recall Management:: Companies must establish rigorous procedures for managing and promptly communicating safety incidents, including the recall of hazardous products.
